We help in cleaning beaches contaminated by oil of unknown origin

Respect for life, people and the environment motivates the performance of our teams in the task force mobilized to clean beaches affected by oil in the Northeast. Nine of our terminals and Emergency Response Centers (Centro Regional de Emergência - CRE) provide material and human support to operations, providing equipment and medical teams for field service in São Luís (Maranhão - MA).
In Sergipe, one of the most affected states, our teams traveled about 25 kilometers, together with professionals from Petrobras, the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis - Ibama), the Brazilian Navy, the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis - ANP) and state and municipal environmental agencies.
We supply, together with Petrobras, PPEs, bags for placing the collected material (known as "big bags"), protective canvas and shovels. On the beaches of Sergipe, more than one hundred tons of waste have already been collected. Of all this material, about 70% corresponds to oil, while the rest is composed of sand that ends up being stuck.
We also took part in the actions with the Special Contingency Group (Grupo Especial de Contingência - GEC), formed by professionals specialized in responding to emergencies and who are coordinating the work of task forces on the beaches of the Northeast. The operation, which began at the request of Ibama, with the activation of the National Contingency Plan, has a Unified Command led by the Brazilian Navy.
