The Eye on the Pipeline Program brings street theater and circus to the communities

It is through the activities of over 30 circus and street professionals that since January 2018 our team of easement strip technicians and communicators are supported in their relationship with the communities neighboring the installations we operate. The Eye on the Pipeline Program facilitates dialog in strategically selected locations, where conflicts and social risks hinder access by the workers to the pipeline easement strips.
Six street theater and circus company operate in the Eye on the Pipeline Program: Group Off-Sina and Chirulico Company (RJ), Asfalto Circus and Pequeno Circo (SP),  Pano de Roda Association (MG) and Teatro Capixaba Circus (ES). The professionals covered subjects such as respect for life, people and the environment, and the importance of the 168 phone number, the main Transpetro communication channel with the communities and their surroundings for the preservation of pipeline integrity.
“Always conducted in public spaces, the Eye on the Pipeline program includes basic social change premises, citizenship formation, community engagement and development of a sense of local belonging”, explains the Social Responsibility Manager of Transpetro, Cláudio Paula de Carvalho. He notes that preventive actions and information connected to clandestine pipeline taps are also divulged during the activities.
During the two years of the program over 600 free activities such as workshops, shows and roundtables were conducted in over 100 communities. The project reached approximately 150 thousand people (among children and adults) in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
At the end to the Eye on the Pipeline Program surveys were taken to assess the views of the communities about the activities conducted and the program in general. In Rio de Janeiro the average approval rating of the program was 94%, while in São Paulo, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais it exceeded 88%.
