Transpetro participates in event that gathered specialists from the infrastructure area

Transpetro was present at a virtual event gathering specialists in the infrastructure area. Held between June 7 and 10, the 1st Brazilian Engineering and Infrastructure Asset Management Congress (CBEGAI) shared sector trends and solutions, with live presentations covering themes linked to engineering that directly affect quality of life in all sectors of the economy. The meeting also discussed methods for overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic impact on the national industry and infrastructure.

On June 10, Marketing Manager Elmo Magnavita presented a global view of the company and its challenges, imposed by changes in the business environment and the pandemic. According to him, there is currently a favorable environment for growth, in which Transpetro may be shown to be more profitable and competitive. Currently the company is able to participate in tenders with private companies and emerge victorious, as has occurred. “We underwent a transformation process that made this possible. In this context we want to be the main reference in the market for offloading and coastal transport, without ignoring safety and integrity, which are the main pillars of our activity, and as such, non-negotiable”, he emphasized.

Asset integrity management

The Asset Integrity Management Round Table, which was also held on June 10, was entirely composed of Transpetro employees. Carlos Roberto Bortolon, General Manager for Pipelines and Terminals, coordinated the debate, which included lectures from Pipeline Manager, Rogério Rebello; Asset Manager, Fábio de Oliveira; and Engineering Maintenance, Leandro Alves. In the presentations the company shared its integrity model for pipelines, storage tanks and equipment, highlighting applicable tests, expected fault modes, reliability studies, inspection and maintenance plans and trends in the management of these assets.

Bortolon stated that it is essential that companies recognize integrity and safety as inseparable values in business. In his view, organizations must establish policies and programs for the preservation and safe operation of the assets during the course of their useful lives, including in their planning investments in monitoring and inspection technologies, equipment rehabilitation services and technical training of the teams. “At Transpetro, we have the Integrity Management Program, which is applied in continuous manner, and is assessed and revised periodically. Its purpose is to ensure safe operations, considering the environment, community, employees and external clients”, he explained.

Regarding the pandemic, the round table disclosed Transpetro’s new reality in asset integrity management: “the actions implemented for safeguarding employee health allowed for effective continuity in industrial area activities, ensuring the implementation of the inspection and maintenance plans and safe operational continuity of the installations”, stated the debate coordinator.

CBEGAI was organized by the Brazilian Asset Maintenance and Management Association (Abraman) and the Engineering Institute and had the participation of public and private sector representatives. Sectors such as industrial infrastructure, logistics and transportation, urban mobility, sanitation, agronomy, oil, gas, and mining were represented and were part of the event schedule.
