Transpetro simulates leakage and prepares the community to act in emergency situations

On the morning of October 3, Transpetro conducted training with residents of the Jardim das Palmas neighborhood, in São Paulo, during a gasoline leak simulation. The purpose of the exercise was to prepare the community for emergency situations and quickly and efficiently carry out the actions provided for in the company's Response Plan. In addition, the simulation was an opportunity for Transpetro to strengthen its direct channel of communication with the community: the telephone number 168. Through this number, residents neighboring the facilities can contribute to the company, either by sending criticisms, suggestions or communicating any suspicious movements in the pipeline range or in nearby land, such as the presence of cars and people with hoses and equipment, works, constructions and a strong smell of fuel in the area.
In the simulation, about 200 residents were removed from their homes by the Civil Defense and taken to meeting points, where they received information about security and Transpetro's facilities.
About 30 company employees worked at the site, following strict safety standards in all of its operations.
The activities lasted approximately two hours and had the support of the following bodies: Fire Department, Civil Defense, Metropolitan Civil Guard, São Paulo City Hall, Red Cross, São Paulo State Environmental Company (Companhia Ambiental do Estado de São Paulo - Cetesb) and Traffic Engineering Company (Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfico - CET).
