On Monday (31/07) at the Coari Terminal we signed an agreement with Sebrae that will stimulate entrepreneurship in the indigenous villages of Cajuhiri Atravessado, Cajuhiri Atravessado II and Tupã da Fazenda in the Amazon. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the indigenous tribes of the region that will benefit from the partnership, with providing of technical rural consulting and training in areas such as associativism and innovation.
“We are happy to be able to assist the indigenous people in this region. To expand the capabilities of the original people and provide them the option of living with products cultivated in their territory, maintaining the culture and the exuberant nature of the Amazon forest, is a honor to Transpetro”, highlighted Sérgio Bacci.
The Community Relations Coordinator, Karen Aragão, explains that the program was developed from feedback and has three main pillars: retrieving relatives through home construction; potentializing nuts and açaí, the largest business of the territory; and food safety. “The objective is to share knowledge that promotes personal autonomy and a vision towards opportunities to generate local income”, she stated.
The Sector Manager for Pipeline Easement Strip Maintenance of the Amazon, Luis Fernando Santos Araújo, reiterated the intention of Transpetro to keep close and friendly relations with all stakeholders through an open and continuous dialog. “We believe we are consolidating our operational mode aligned with harmonic coexistence with nature and the communities, in compliance with the social-environmental policy of the company”.
Alzinete Sobrinho, manager of the Sebrae office Coari, reiterated his satisfaction in being part of the project. “Our great achievement will be to work with these communities to develop entrepreneurship and affirm once again Sebrae’s commitment to the supply chain of the primary sector. We will undertake this work together”, he emphasized.
Recognition of original people
The communities value the support of the company in returning to the territory and the development for crops. “In addition to more technical expertise for cultivation, Transpetro is designing our houses. As we are returning to our indigenous territory, we are in much need of housing and assistance. And Transpetro at this moment is aiding us. This is a very important redemption for each one of us”, declared Elisangela Marins from the indigenous community of the Cajuhiri Dois village.
Dona Coca, chief of the Tupã da Fazenda village, is grateful for fulfillment of a dream. “I never lost hope and here we are already starting this work. I want to thank all involved”.
